SleepTrack Audio

Health Connect setup

Match bedtime audio with the sleep data already on Android.

Health Connect is the permission-controlled bridge between your sleep source and SleepTrack Audio. The source writes a sleep session; SleepTrack reads it after you grant access.

Before you begin

Health Connect requires Android 9 or later with Google Play services. It is part of Android 14 and later. On Android 13 and earlier, install the Health Connect app from Google Play. Google's availability guide explains the version differences.

You also need an app that writes sleep sessions to Health Connect. A wearable having sleep data inside its own app does not automatically mean that data is shared.

1. Open Health Connect

On Android 14 or later, search Settings for "Health Connect." The standard route is through Security and privacy, then Privacy controls. On Android 13 or earlier, open the installed Health Connect app through Android Settings.

2. Connect the sleep source

Open app permissions in Health Connect and select the app paired with your wearable. Allow it to write the sleep data you want to use. If several apps provide sleep, check Health Connect's data sources and priority screen so the intended source contributes to the sleep total.

3. Give SleepTrack read access

Open SleepTrack Audio and follow the Health Connect permission request. The app asks for sleep access for Sleep Marks and the listening timeline. You can deny or revoke it at any time; automatic listening bookmarks continue to work without it.

SleepTrack reads sleep sessions and stages for the on-device timeline. It does not upload your listening titles or sleep history to a SleepTrack server.

4. Enable supported media monitoring

Health data alone cannot identify the audiobook position. Allow Android notification access so SleepTrack can observe the media information published by supported players.

5. Test one normal night

  1. Confirm the wearable is recording sleep.
  2. Play an audiobook or podcast in your usual Android app.
  3. Let the wearable and its companion app sync after waking.
  4. Open SleepTrack and review Sleep Marks.

Why a result may arrive late

Many wearables calculate sleep after the session ends. The companion app then syncs to the phone and writes to Health Connect. SleepTrack cannot read a finished session before that chain completes. If the result is missing first thing in the morning, open the wearable app, wait for sync, then check SleepTrack again.

Troubleshooting checklist

  • The sleep session appears in the wearable's app.
  • The source app has permission to write sleep data to Health Connect.
  • SleepTrack has permission to read sleep data.
  • Notification access remains enabled.
  • The audio app showed a media notification while playing.
  • The phone is not using an Android work profile, which Health Connect does not support.
